  1. List the nine (9) criteria from the DSM-5-TR to assess for the presence of Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
  2. Differentiate between a Covert, Overt, or Malignant Narcissist.
  3. List at least five (5) empowering therapeutic interventions for use with their patients recovering from an abusive relationship.

Course Description

All too often, as licensed psychologists, we are presented with individuals recovering from emotionally abusive relationships. When our patients describe their former partners, the observations and terminology referenced frequently fit the criteria of an individual with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). This CE, Addressing the Needs of Individuals Recovering from a Narcissistic Relationship, is divided into two major parts. 1.. Understanding the Narcissist. We will review the rationale, incidence, prevalence, and diagnostic criteria of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, The CE presents the differential characteristics associated with the sub-categories of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. 2. Addressing the Needs of Individuals Recovering from a Narcissistic Relationship, The CE focuses on the factors (family of origin, personality, etc.) that contribute to being a victim. Lastly, the CE provides a comprehensive range of. therapeutic interventions and strategies to facilitate recovery of a victim of a narcissist.
